Power of Declaring God’s Words

In prayer –  do we use vain, repetitive words?

Why not try something different for a change like declaring God’s Words back to Him.

There’s power in God’s Words to transform people, situations.  When we keep His words in our hearts we  will not sin against Him.  Analogically, its like a branch drawing nutrients from the vine and thus able to bear fruits.  We become so ‘full of Him’ that it permeates through our whole being –  our outlook and focus is on Him.  As a consequence, His thoughts will be our thoughts and His ways, our ways. His Words are life and healing and stands forever.

Below are some verses from the Bible that I often used in prayer and the sample prayer is merely a guide to assist you in how you do it.  May the Holy Spirit be your comfort and guide.

Isaiah 55:11 – So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.  (NKJV)

When we declare His word, it  will not return to Him empty without accomplishing what it is sent to do.

Jeremiah 29:11 –  For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. (NKJV)

When faced with uncertainties in life, rest assured that God knows everything from the beginning to the end of our lives.  Negative occurrences are not God’s will for you and every hindrance is broken by the power of God’s word when you declare it.

Romans 8: 28 –  And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. (NKJV)

The unpleasant events in our lives may turn out for our good. Take the example of the life of Joseph in the Bible (Genesis 37- 50). Hatred and envy by his brothers drove them to put him away for good.  But God’s hands and favour was upon him and eventually he rise to be an outstanding statesman in Pharaoh’s court and was able to preserve the lives of his brothers and father during the time of extreme famine in the land.

Philippians 4:13 – I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (NKJV)

God enables us to do the impossible if we dare to trust Him and surrender the ‘helm’ of our lives to Him.

Philippians 4:19 – And My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (NKJV)

When faced with recession – declare that God will meet our needs – for He is ‘Jehovah Jireh’ our Provider.  God is the source of all good things and with Him, we lack nothing.

Luke 10:19 – Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (NKJV)

With this God given authority, we do not have to fear the enemy.

James 4:7 – Therefore submit to God.  Resist the devil and he will flee from you.  (NKJV)

Kick the devil out of our life, surrender to God’s Lordship.

Hebrews 13:5 – … “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (NJKV)

He is a covenant keeping God – what He says He will do.  Trust is crucial here.  Our fears exchange for God’s peace.

Jeremiah 33:3 – Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’ (NKJV)

We have direct connections to God without any hindrances… no need internet, electrical devices. He is never too busy to answer us.

2Timothy 1:7 – For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (NKJV)

Fear cannot overcome us when we claim what God has given to us.

1 Corinthians 6:19 – Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? (NKJV)

Our body is the Temple of God.  It is essential to eat wisely, care for for our body and keeping our minds free from sinful thoughts and ways. Maintaining a  lifestyle that is pleasing to God.

1 Corinthians 15:57 – But thanks be to God, who give us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (NKJV)

Declare that we are over-comers and victorious because of Christ empowering and enabling us in dire situations.  Whatever challenges we faced –  nothing is impossible with us as long as we move with God and trust Him.

Isaiah 54:17 – No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn.  This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” says the Lord. (NKJV)

Tactics, manoeuvres of the devil and accusations would be thwart when we declare and believe these words.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 – ‘In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.’  (NJKV)

In all circumstances adopt the positive attitude of being thankful because our Heavenly Father knows what is best for us.

Example of prayer:

Heavenly Father,

We thank you for Your Words of life and healing.

When negative words or curses is directed towards us, we declare it null and void in Jesus Name.  (quote Isaiah 54:17).

You are our Shepherd and Deliverer.

Thank you that You have given us the authority over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by no means hurt us. (quote Luke 10:19).

We pray for the hedge of protection over our families and homes and declare that You are our Lord and deliverer.  Guard our coming in and going out.  Help us speak words of life and healing to those whom we come in contact with everyday.

When faced with uncertainties in life, we know and trust that You will work everything out for our good. Thank you Lord,

In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

  1. These verses embody, the struggles we face in going through the vicissitudes of life.
They give us the assurance and faith that God knows everything. Everything happens
for a reason and He knows what’s best for His children.
To see the world in a grain of sand
Eternity in the petals of a flower
Is to know God, and have had an encounter with Him.
To have reached this stage in life, is to have true contentment and to be at peace
    with all people.

  2. I love praying God’s promises back to Him and I believe He loves that too. Blessed be His name. Blessings, Amy
