No matter where God has placed us – we can make a difference whether we are in the marketplace, school, or even working in the church. We are called to be ambassadors, ministers to the Kingdom of God.
Most of us, including myself initially, have the wrong conception that leaving everything and joining the church full-time is more spiritual. The church is not a building – we are in fact, the mobile church. We have a Kingdom agenda – In Mark 16: 17-18 – heal the sick, cast out demons, speak in new tongues…
◦ Has your presence made a difference to the people around you especially those in the ‘marketplace’?
◦
◦ Are you able to share your faith without any whelms?
◦
◦ As a believer in Christ – have you segregated what is clergy and laity?
◦
◦ Are you the solution provider or the problem?
◦
◦ Why are we called the Light and Salt of the earth?
Christ’s death has torn the veil in the temple and has abolished the practices in the Old Testament, we now have access to the holy of holiest through the blood of Jesus. With that we are called to be ‘priests’ today.
The steps of the righteous man are ordered by the Lord. We are to take heed to guard our hearts, treasuring God’s word, and applying it to our lives.
Don’t judge those in business as unspiritual – look at the example of Daniel in the Bible – he was a politician but a righteous man and no one can find any faults in him.
Joseph went through a series of pain in his life but he emerged as a man of integrity and full of compassion of the Lord – he forgave his wicked brothers and cited that God worked out for good out of his bad occurrences. God prospers him and the land under his leadership.
Today wherever God has placed you – “bloomed where you are planted.” We need to remember that we are not in a perfect environment, not with perfect people – there’s bound to be conflicts here and there. Be an agent of change – there are many people who are looking for hope, life in their circumstances. Speak blessings to your work, studies.
Here is a short prayer to guide you:
Dear Lord,
Wherever You have placed us – be it at school, in business or church ministries, help us to do well as an act of worship to You. Grant us your wisdom at all times. Help us sow good seeds in people’s lives. Make us an agent of Your peace and blessings – speak words of affirmation, their potential and capabilities not dwelling on the negative aspect of the individual.
You are our Boss in our working place.
You are our mentor/teacher at school.
We welcome you Lord Jesus in our lives – at work, or school. We want to involve You in every area of our lives – not on Sunday only but everyday. Help us to have a prayer lifestyle – praying for everyone that comes in our pathways.
When I feel discouraged – I know that the Joy of the Lord is my strength.
May the words that I speak be of life and healing. You have empowered us to rise up above our adverse circumstances. Fill us with Your love. And impart that to others.
Forgive us of our sins, and imperfections in our lives. We choose to forgive others who have offended or hurt us. Take away the nitty gritty that irritates us. Refresh us with Your living waters daily.
Thank you for Your daily provisions, wisdom and favour. May our lives impact others as Christ lives within us. Even though we may fall but Christ will raise us to be champions for Him.
In Jesus mighty name I pray, Amen.
Verses to ponder:
Quotations – NASB
Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.
Matthew 5:13 – You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how will it be made salty again? It is good for nothing any more, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men.
Mark 9:50 – Salt is good: but if the salt becomes unsalted, with what will you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.
Matthew 5:14 – You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.
Thank you for this, Maria. I love the reminder that we can speak God’s blessings into whatever situation the Lord has us in. Jeremiah 29:11 is our family verse. God is so faithful. blessings, Amy
Thanks Amy, you have been an encourager to people you have come in contact with. Praise God. Your life has been a blessing to many. May all of God’s plans and purposes in your life be fulfilled.
Very encouraging Maria. Thanks for the sample prayer. You’re spot on. Every one can make kingdom impact. We’re here to make a difference – not only to better the lives of others, but share the Good News so that people can become saved, reconciled, and restored. As someone who is in the marketplace, I’m thinking about how can I make someone’s life better? How can I share the fragrance of Jesus Christ? It’s not always easy, but with an intentional mindset, it works with patience.
Thank you for your kind remarks. By God’s help I am able to write this. Praise the Lord.
Thank you Paul, may our lives be a sweet aroma of fragrance wherever God has placed us. Praise God for sustaining us.
So true Maria, and so great that you have turned this truth into an accessible prayer and meditation. This has been the topic of my recent two posts on the Parable of the Talents, so I guess we are operating on the same ‘spiritual’ wavelength.
Dear Florence,
Its so nice to have a fellow comrade who shared the same things in common. Touching lives just as Christ has touched us and we are complete and secure in Him.
