Meditating on God’s Word
Practically everyday we read of news that affected us in one way or another. News of death of children, calamities that hit many nations and other unrests. You read of changes around us and in the world. It gives us a sense of insecurity and uncertainty.
Where do we find ‘rest’ in the midst of all this? Its none other than the Almighty God Himself.
John 14:27 – Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. (NASB version)
Its important to read God’s Word first thing in the morning so that it prepares us for the day and also find true source of rest through His promises. Have Faith that He will carry us through – “God does not permit even one thing to happen to us without a divine and wise purpose.” Meditate on
Romans 8:28 – And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
Likewise in Psalm 43:5 – “why are you in despair, O my soul? And why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him, The help of my countenance, and my God.
2 Chronicles 16:9 – For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His…
When we commit our ways to God, seeking His wisdom and guidance… by allowing His words to sink deep into our very being. Its like the analogy of a person chewing his food and allowing it to digest into his system… providing him with essential nutrients for the body.
Here is short prayer for the day to begin with: (this is only guide, its best if you can voice out to God what is in your heart)
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for a good night rest. Thank you for rejuvenating and refreshing us.
For in Your Presence there is fullness of Joy.
Lord, we seek your wisdom and guidance – Your Word for is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path.
We don’t know what will behold us today but we trust and pray for Your peace, comfort and rest in whatever situations we faced.
Thank you Lord that You are in control of all things, even our lives.
Thank you for Your Word for its life and healing. As we are blessed being Your child, help us to be a blessing to others.
As we are encouraged by Your precious words help us to be an encourager to people in need.
Guide our footsteps. Fill us with Your love – knowing that we are secured in You. Guard our tongues that we will not provoke anyone to anger. Help us remember Your words in our hearts and let it germinate and produce a heart of thanksgiving and also that we may fear You only.
For we are weak but You are strong to lift us up when we are down.
Help us be an overcomer. Release from us any bitterness, anger or any negative emotions within us and fill us with Your Holy Spirit.
Thank you dear Lord.
We love you because You first love us.
In Jesus name I pray,
Amen.
